Welcome to Math 1. I am looking forward to working with you and helping you. This is an advanced course, therefore; It is important that you are here every day. I have high expectations for all of my students. I truly believe that all students can succeed in this class. I will do my best to help my students master Math 1.
Teacher Expectations
I expect you to come prepared and ready to learn each day.
I expect you to come to class with a good attitude and sense of humor.
I expect you to do all of your assignments and be responsible for getting them when you have been absent.
I expect you to respect yourself and others.
I expect you to be willing to work with and help all others in this class.
I expect you to take care of this room and its contents.
I expect you to behave like an adult while in my room.
I expect you to give your all each and every day.
I expect you to be genuine and honest in all you do and say.
Student Responsibilities
Be prepared to begin class when the bell rings. This means seated with all of your materials out and your mind in gear.
All work is to be shown and done in pencil to receive credit.
Flow quickly from one activity to another.
Keep your notebook neat, organized and up to date. I may ask for all or part of it at any time.
Make your assignments legible or they will have to be rewritten after school.
Help clean the classroom and the area around your desk in order for the class to be dismissed on time.

Other Information
1. BEGINNING OF CLASS:
a. Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings. Get out homework and be ready to work.
b. Bring to class daily:
Composition Book (interactive notebook)
Pencil
Calculator- TI 84 (I have a classroom set that your are welcome to use in class, but one needs to be available for home use)
2. TARDY POLICY.
Tardy #4 and #5 will result in a Lunch detention with teacher.
Tardy #6 will result in an office referral.
You will be considered tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings. .
3. NO FOOD or OPEN CONTAINERS allowed.
4. GRADING SYSTEM:
a. Daily/homework assignments 25%.
Taken up daily.
b. Quizzes count 25%.
At least 2 a week.
c. Tests count 50%.
5. TUTORING:
a. SMART Lunch Wednesday and Thursdays A lunch.
b. After hours offers free tutoring and I will be there 2 days a week.
6. BATHROOM AND HALL PASS.
a. It is very important that you do not miss class. Your presence in class is important to your learning and grade.
b. NEVER leave class without a Hall Pass.
c. Please go to the bathroom/ lockers before school, between classes, or during lunch.
7. CLASSROOM MOVEMENT:
a. Please don’t interrupt class lecture or learning by moving around the class at inappropriate times.
b. Pencils should be sharpened before class or after lecture.
c. Trash should be thrown away after lecture.
8. CALCULATORS:
a. If you do not have one, you can get one from Math Department. ($10.00 Fee)
b. It will be necessary for you to bring it to class everyday.
c. I do not have any calculators to loan out.
d. You will be required to provide your own batteries. I do not have any batteries.
9. LEAVING CLASS:
a. Please stay in your seat until the bell rings, in other words do not line up at the door and wait for the bell to ring.
b. Make sure your desk and desk area are clean and in place.
10. Dress Code will be strictly enforced. Do not make me remind you everyday that you are not allowed to wear hoodies.
11. NO Electronic Devices, not to be seen, heard or used in any way. School Policies will be followed.
12. ABSENCES:
a. All missed work needs to be made up within two days of your absence.
b. You are responsible for getting missed assignments. (on calendar, or classmate).

It is very important that you are here every day. This includes being present both in mind and in body as well as being prepared for class. Should you feel that you need extra help, it is important that you get it immediately. I look forward to a great semester.
